Surfing in Avellanas

Fantastic waves break at many points along Hacienda Pinilla’s three miles of pristine coastline, and a quick drive either north toward Tamarindo or south toward Playa Negra open up your options even more. A favorite is the point locally known as “Little Hawaii” right in front of Hacienda Pinilla’s Beach Club where rights and lefts roll all day long. The Avellanas Rivermouth south of the beach club has a reef and sand bar that holds a swell or pitches a fun little wave on smaller days.

Private & Group Surf Lessons

We offer private, semi-private and group surf lessons for all ages. Our surf instructors are local surfers with years of experience in surfing and teaching. Two-hour surf lessons first demonstrate the technique of surfing and provide you with important safety knowledge, then you go into the water and catch some waves!

Famous Break Surf Treks

Playa Negra, Junquillal, Marbella, Witches Rock Or Olie’s Point

We put together amazing surf trips for experienced surfers to the best breaks in the region.

The Witches Rock and Olie’s Point surf day begins and ends with a 2 hour boat trip to these famous secluded spots. This will be the Costa Rican surf adventure that you will never forget!

Guanacaste’s coast is studded with surf spots that will blow your mind. Our Surf Trips will be tailored to your level of surfing and designed according to the tides. We can get you to the breaks you want to ride by boat or by land: Junquillal, Playa Negra, Marbella, Guiones, Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Langosta… You’ll be ready to stop before we’ve run out of options!

All of our surf treks require booking in advance so if surfing is your passion, let’s get started.
